Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your choices. It covers SafariLegacy websites and apps (the “Service”). We don’t sell your personal data.

What we collect

  • Account info — name, email, password hash, plan, and settings (e.g., privacy defaults, marketing consent).
  • Memory content — photos, videos, stories, titles, species, locations, equipment/method, dates, and optional advanced stats you provide.
  • Technical data — device/browser details, IP address, approximate location, diagnostics, and cookies or similar technologies.
  • Integrations — e.g., Google Maps/Places lookups, storage/hosting metadata (uploads, thumbnails), and analytics events (e.g., GA4).
  • Partners — outfitter/taxidermist/PH references or referral codes you add; partner attribution where applicable.

How we use your data

  • Provide the Service (contract): host memories, process media (e.g., create thumbnails), enable search/sharing/QR or NFC redirects, and display pages.
  • Security & abuse prevention (legitimate interests/legal obligation): fraud prevention, rate limiting, audit logs, incident response.
  • Improve features (legitimate interests/consent for certain regions): usage analytics and diagnostics to make SafariLegacy better.
  • Communications (contract/legitimate interests): account notices, feature updates, and service messages.
  • Marketing (only if you opt in) (consent): curated emails and occasional showcasing of your public memories off-platform. See the consent section below.

Marketing consent (account-level, revocable)

Marketing is off by default. If you enable the toggle in Profile → Privacy & Consent, you allow us to send marketing emails and occasionally feature your public memories (title, images, short excerpt, and non-precise location) in external channels such as our website, social posts, newsletters, ads, or investor materials. You can revoke consent anytime in the same place; we’ll stop future use and record the change with a policy version in our consent log. Revocation doesn’t require us to retroactively edit previously published materials.

Sharing & processors

We use reputable providers to run the Service (e.g., Vercel for hosting, Supabase for database/storage/auth, a CDN for media delivery, Google Maps/Places for location, and GA4 for analytics). Providers act as our processors under appropriate security and confidentiality commitments. We may disclose data when required by law or to protect users. We don’t share data with data brokers.

Your choices & rights

  • Access, edit, or delete your memories in-app.
  • Export or delete your account by emailing info@mysafarilegacy.com.
  • Revoke marketing consent in Profile → Privacy & Consent at any time.
  • Control cookies in your browser. Some functionality (e.g., session, security) requires essential cookies or similar technologies.

Children

Parents/guardians must supervise child use. Don’t upload children’s personal information without parental permission. If you believe we hold data about a child without consent, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Retention

We retain account data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with law, prevent abuse, or support requests. Media and derived assets may persist briefly in backups or caches after deletion due to technical latency.

Security

We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data, but no internet service is 100% secure. Keep your originals backed up.

International

Data may be processed in countries where our providers operate. We apply safeguards consistent with this policy.

Changes

We’ll post updates here with a new version/date. Material changes will be highlighted in-app where practical.
