Terms of Service
Version: v1.0 • Effective: 20 August 2025
This summary is plain-English. If anything conflicts, the legal wording below controls.
Quick summary
- You own your stories, photos, and videos ("Content").
- You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display Content only to run SafariLegacy and the features you choose to use.
- Public memories are browseable and viewable by anyone; private memories are not.
- No external promotional use unless you explicitly opt in at account level (revocable).
- Keep your own backups - SafariLegacy is not an archival service.
- Upload only lawful, ethical hunting content you have rights to share.
Definitions
"Service" means the SafariLegacy websites, apps, storage, and related features. "Content" means anything you upload or create in the Service (for example text, images, video, metadata).
Using SafariLegacy
You must be legally able to form a contract in your country, or be a parent/guardian supervising a child's use. Keep your password secure and use the Service responsibly.
Your content & our service license
You retain ownership of your Content. To operate the Service, you grant SafariLegacy a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process (for example transcode, resize, create thumbnails), translate, index/search, and display your Content only as necessary to provide the Service and features you enable (such as public viewing or sharing links). This license ends when the Content is deleted from the Service, subject to reasonable technical latency and backup retention.
Public vs private memories
Marking a memory as public allows it to be viewable by anyone and surfaced in SafariLegacy search/browse. Private memories are visible only to you and people you choose to share with via features we provide. Your visibility setting can be changed by you at any time.
Marketing consent (account-level, revocable)
We will not use your Content outside the Service for promotional purposes (for example website showcases, social media, newsletters, ads, investor decks) unless you enable the marketing consent toggle in your account. If you opt in, usage will be limited to public memories and may include titles, images, short excerpts of your story, and non-precise locations. You can revoke consent at any time; revocation stops future use and is recorded in our consent log with a policy version. Revocation does not require us to retroactively edit previously published materials.
Acceptable use & moderation
Ethical hunting only. No illegal wildlife trade; no harassment, hate, or incitement; no gore intended to shock. Upload only content you have rights to. We may remove or restrict Content that violates law, these Terms, or reasonable safety standards.
Service reliability & retention
We aim for high uptime and responsible storage, but the Service is provided "as is." Keep originals elsewhere. We may impose reasonable limits (file size, formats, bandwidth) and may retain system logs and backups for a limited time. If we deprecate features or need to archive/purge inactive data, we will provide reasonable notice where required.
Plans, payments & renewals
Some features require a paid plan. Prices (typically USD) and entitlements are shown in-product and may change. Taxes may apply. Plans auto-renew unless you cancel. Refunds are provided where required by law; otherwise at our discretion. See our Refund Policy.
Third-party services
We use trusted providers (for example hosting, storage, analytics, maps, payments, CDN). Their terms may apply where relevant. See our Privacy Policy for data handling details.
Takedowns & disputes
If you believe Content infringes your rights, email info@mysafarilegacy.com with details and links. We may remove or restrict Content to comply with law or protect users.
Changes, suspension, termination
We may improve or change features, or suspend/terminate accounts that violate these Terms or law. We will try to give reasonable notice of material changes. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties (including merchantability, fitness, non-infringement) and exclude liability for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability for all claims related to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or R1,000 if none).
Governing law
These Terms are governed by South African law (without regard to conflict-of-law rules). Disputes are handled by competent courts in South Africa, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
